Abstract: Over the last decade or more the exploration of the solar system has become more about the geology and atmospheres of planets. Current astronomy textbooks have not kept up. As well many textbooks although available as ebooks are simply adaptations of traditional paper textbooks. Here I will present and OER (open education resource)textbook that I am working on that focuses on the Solar System. This textbook is being written as a strictly online book with no hardcopies to fully take advantage of the wide range on online material which can be connected to an introductory planetary science course.
