Abstract: Ahead of the April 8th total solar eclipse, the ASP hosted XX 3-hour virtual workshops for educators and scientists. The workshops provided educators with content knowledge and pedagogical knowledge and skills needed to engage students in an eclipse experience. For educators the workshop focused on developing public engagement practices to better communicate with a broad range of audiences. After the eclipse, we engaged 7 educators and 5 scientists in a photovoice style interview. Interviewees brought pictures of their eclipse event(s) to the interview and shared how the photos captured items such as the communities they served, the activities and materials they engaged audiences with as related to the workshops and the ASP Eclipse Star took-kit materials. Questions were also asked to capture what was not shown in the photos, such as the sense of awe and wonder through comments and interactions with audiences. Our talk will share findings from the photovoice interviews with Eclipse Star educators and scientists.
