Abstract: Our team was involved in preparing Canadian schools across many provinces for the total solar eclipse. We worked on many fronts with a lot of success: distribution of 300,000 eclipse glasses, training 1,000s of teachers through online and in-person workshops, creation of various bilingual educational resources, as well as leading educational committees and helping many other educational organizations. Unfortunately, in the weeks leading to the eclipse, fear and panic took over in some regions which prevented too many kids from engaging with the eclipse. We will go over our experience and discuss the fundamental questions that remain about the state of science education.
