Abstract: The workshop will introduce educators to the design of NSF NOIRLab’s Teen Astronomy Café - To Go! Program which provides opportunities for students to explore astronomical data using the same tools as professional astronomers. Participants will engage in the Backyard Worlds Jupyter Notebook, experiencing it from the student’s perspective - no background in coding is necessary. Through this notebook, participants will detect the motions of stars and brown dwarfs using NASA’s WISE data. We will then apply these skills as we explore the citizen science project Backyard Worlds: Planet 9. Finally, participants will share their experiences and discuss strategies for implementing the materials in their educational setting.
