3A - Reflections on National Solar Eclipse Programs

Abstract: Join leaders from national solar eclipse engagement programs as they share insights from their extensive preparations for the October 2023 and April 2024 solar eclipses. Learn how they mobilized thousands of teachers, librarians, undergraduates, amateur astronomers and other volunteers across North America, how these volunteers ultimately reached audiences in the millions, and what lessons we can draw from coordinating programs at this scale. Together we will reflect on how these experiences can benefit current and future initiatives in the astronomy communication field. Panelists include representatives from the ASP's Eclipse Ambassadors and Eclipse Stars programs, the Space Science Institute's NASA @ My Library / SEAL program, the NASA Eclipse Collective, and NASA HEAT.
