Ilana did her PhD in Astronomy & Astrophysics at the University of Toronto, studying gravitational waves from binary black holes with Prof. Harald Pfeiffer. Since then, she has worked in astronomy education and outreach in various capacities before attaining her current position as Public Outreach, Communications, and Events Strategist at the Dunlap Institute. Besides communicating astronomy with the public, Ilana enjoys reading science fiction, knitting, playing ukulele in the park, and riding her bike around the city.
