Michele Wistisen has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Wyoming. Her Master’s thesis was about using Gestalt principles of perception to improve students’ understanding of the phases of the moon. She was a member of the curriculum committee for writing science standards for both the State of Wyoming as well as the Natrona County School District. During the 20 years that she was the director of the planetarium, students under her direction produced three planetarium programs which were distributed to planetariums around the world.
Michele has been very active in several organizations over the years include: eCybermission coach, Central Wyoming Science Fair coordinator, Solar System Ambassador, Skynet Junior Scholar teacher, National Space Foundation Teacher Liaison, Lego Robotics judge, Wyoming Space Grant member, and Museum Alliance member. Michele is currently the president of the Rocky Mountain Planetarium Association, and one of two North American board representatives to the International Planetarium Society.
