Laura is VP of Science Engagement at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago and PI for Zooniverse and has led Adler’s participatory science efforts since 2015. Laura is a Governing Council member of the International Astronomical Union North American Regional Office of Astronomy for Development. Zooniverse.org, the world’s largest platform for people-powered research, is a collaboration between Adler, the University of Oxford, the University of Minnesota, millions of volunteers, and hundreds of researchers around the world. Laura was previously jointly appointed between Northwestern University and the Adler as an astronomer (with a focus on supermassive black holes) and science-education researcher (with a focus on computational thinking in K-12 STEM education).
