Dawn Davies is with Hill Country Alliance, a non-profit organization focused on raising public awareness and building community support around the need to preserve the natural resources and heritage of the Central Texas Hill Country. As Night Sky Program Manager, she works with volunteers and local leaders across the region to promote night sky preservation and eliminate light pollution and its detrimental environmental effects. For over a decade, Dawn has educated thousands via outreach with the Austin Astronomical Society, as a volunteer advocate with the International Dark-Sky Association and its Texas Chapter, and as a founding member of the Travis County Friends of the Night Sky. In the course and scope of her work with Hill Country Alliance, she led the Hill Country Eclipse Team, working with communities across the region to prepare for the 2023 and 2024 Annular and Total Solar Eclipses, educating the public as a NASA Partner Eclipse Ambassador and an Eclipse Expert with the Solar Eclipse Activities for Libraries Program.
