Abstract: The University of Wisconsin Green Bay (UWGB) College of Science, Engineering, and Technology (CSET) has recently established a communal study space to support students and foster a sense of community and mentorship amongst different programs of study. This space, designated as the STEM Study Lounge (SSL), was established with three goals targeting improved student retention and degree completion: (i) provide an inclusive and welcoming space easily accessible to all CSET students, (ii) foster community amongst CSET students by providing space and resources for individual and group study efforts, and (iii) allow for mentoring opportunities by more senior students who are in charge of the day-to-day operations of the SSL.
